This week Tony Devenish, West Central Assembly Member announced that work will be commencing on a pedestrian crossing at the northern junction of Battersea Bridge.
Following a vigorous and long-running campaign led by Tony, Chelsea MP Greg Hands and local resident Rob McGibbon, TfL has agreed to make the junction safer for pedestrians by constructing a proper crossing.
It is important that as much as possible is done to make our roads safer, both for vehicles and those on foot and this new crossing will help the Battersea Bridge junction become a safer place for all.
Reflecting on the plan to install a green man crossing, Tony said,
This is great news for local people.
A new pedestrian crossing will dramatically improve safety for those wishing to cross the road and I am delighted that TfL has finally agreed to act to ensure that people are protected at this junction.
I would like to thank all those who participated in our months-long campaign for a green man crossing, thank you all for your hard work!
