Sadiq Khan’s pay per mile road user charging plan is nothing but a tax on hardworking Londoners, on top of the taxes they already pay.
A successful, vibrant city is a moving city. Sadiq Khan's secret plans to impose new charges for every single mile you drive are completely unacceptable. Families and businesses need more money in their pockets, not less.
We need our public transport system working in the best interests of Londoners, and motorists need to be able to go about their lives without being punished by the Labour Mayor.
Sadiq Khan’s pay-per-mile plans have secretly been in the works for years. He’s spent millions of your money developing it, and despite his denials, will continue to do so.
On Thursday 2 May you have the chance to re-elect your Assembly Member Tony Devenish, and to elect a new Mayor for our great city, Susan Hall. As Mayor Susan Hall will bin his pay-per-mile plans.
We're backing our local Assembly Member Tony Devenish's campaign to stop Sadiq Khan's plans for 'Pay per mile'.
Tony Devenish said:
“For years, Sadiq Khan has told everyone who would listen that TfL is working on pay-per-mile road user charging and that he wants to introduce it on London’s roads before the end of the decade. His recent claim that he had ruled it out is as believable as his July 2021 claim that he had no plans to expand the ULEZ.
“Unlike a national pay-per-mile scheme, which could replace Fuel Duty and Vehicle Emissions Duty, a London-only scheme would increase the cost of driving for everyone. Even for those who don’t drive a London-wide scheme would be inflationary and increase the cost of living as everything delivered into London via road, from food to construction materials, would become more expensive.
“The only way to guarantee London won’t have a pay-per-mile road user charging scheme forced upon us is to kick out Sadiq Khan and elect Susan Hall on 2nd May.”
