Today Tony Devenish, Assembly Member for West Central, held the Mayor to account on his abysmal record on crime.
Tony used this week’s Mayor’s Question Time to seek an assurance from the Mayor that he would address the MP for Kensington’s concerns over the closure of two police stations in Kensington. He pushed the Mayor to respond to Felicity Buchan’s repeated requests for clarity over the funding of police stations in London.
In addition, Tony highlighted the Mayor’s failure to keep our city safe, particularly on the matter of knife crime which regrettably, has risen to record highs. It is vital that the Mayor commits to fully funding our hardworking and dedicated police force and begins working constructively with them to tackle crime on our streets.
Commenting on this week’s Mayor’s Question Time, Tony said,
The Mayor has completely failed to keep both our city and local people safe.
It is time we had a new Mayor who puts the safety of Londoners first and takes seriously his duty to combat crime and preserve peace in our streets.
