Tony Devenish has been campaigning this week alongside Kensington MP Felicity Buchan to keep the Royalty Studios police station on Lancaster Road open.
Throughout his term of office, the Mayor has closed police stations all over London at a time when police need to be given the resources to effectively tackle crime.
Tony strongly believes that our city is safer with more open police stations and takes the view that local people should have a local police station to turn to. The physical presence of a police station is important for our communities and is an indispensable tool in fighting crime and ensuring that our city is as safe as possible.
Commenting on the possible closure of the police station Tony said,
I have been campaigning hard with Kensington’s outstanding MP Felicity Buchan to keep the Royalty Studios police station open.
The Mayor wants to close this station, having already closed the Notting Hill station in Kensington at the beginning of his term of office.
Local people need to have access to nearby police stations. It helps keep our streets safe and we must fight to keep the Royalty Studios station open!
Tony and Felicity have launched a petition to keep Kensington’s police stations open. Sign the petition here.
